My legal obligations

When I engage in lobbying activities I must respect:

- the Lobbying Transparency and Ethics Act
- the Code of Conduct for Lobbyists

It means that:

If this concerns a consultant lobbyist, I declare my lobbying activities in the Lobbyists Registry by specifying, among other things:
  • my particulars and those of my client;

     
  • the subject-matter of my lobbying activities (my client's mandate);

     
  • the period covered by my lobbying activities;

     
  • the name of the parliamentary, government or municipal institutions I call on;

     
  • the scope of the compensation received (fees or material benefits) in exchange for my lobbying activities;

     
  • the means of communications I use or intend to use.
If this concerns enterprise or organization lobbying, as a top executive, I declare the lobbying activities of my firm or organization in the Lobbyists Registry, by specifying, among other things:
  • my name as well as the name and particulars of the company or organization;

     
  • the name of each lobbyist working for the company or organization;

     
  • the date of the start and end of the fiscal year of the company or organization;

     
  • a summary of the activities of the company or organization;

     
  • the subject-matter of the lobbying activities as well as the information useful in determining such subject-matter;

     
  • the period covered by the lobbying activities;

     
  • the name of the parliamentary, government or municipal institutions I call on;

     
  • the means of communication used.

I update the content of my declaration in the Lobbyists Registry

I renew my registration within the prescribed period

I carry out my lobbying activities with due regard for the provisions of the Act, which entails, among other things, that:
I comply with the provisions of the Code of Conduct for Lobbyists, which means, among other things, that:
  • I take the public interest into account when representing the special interests of a client, a business or an organization;

     
  • I make sure the information I provide to public office holders is accurate, complete and updated;

     
  • I do not exercise undue (unreasonable) pressure on a public office holder.
